Teaser for Nightwish’s first cinematic venture goes live

I must confess, I haven’t listened to their latest album, but the above still intrigues me. Nightwish are one of my all-time favourite bands; they may be as mainstream as they come, but their success is built on a rock solid back catalogue and a frankly amazing live show. They were immense at Wacken 2008, easily on a par in terms of theatricality with Maiden.

So far as I know, this will be the first feature-length film released by a metal band(?) Well, I guess there’s been bits and pieces before – Anvil’s biopic, I think Kiss had a few films back in their heyday, Spinal Tap (of course), but a standalone film is a novelty, I believe.

I look forward to seeing how this one develops.
