Another cracking review mate. There's a lot to be said for hearing black metal in small, intimate venues. Watain in a 500 capacity basement is one of my favourite shows to date - the smell and the heat alone will stick with me forever.

Hi Kevin, welcome to the fold! Fantastic post and photos - really solid content. I hear you on the necessity for crispness in the audio for technical bands - nothing worse than it all becoming a messy, fuzzy blast. London isn't renowned for its sonics, regrettably, but every now and again a band really put in the testing time and get it just right. There's a few places with video screens - hopefully something that will become a more regular occurrence in future.

Meshuggah are over here with Devin in May - your review may just have persuaded me to hit that tour. They also have Periphery in tow. Animals as Leaders are also on the 'to catch' list - we'll see. I'm not too bothered about bands that don't have much of a 'presence' - so long as they deliver their primary offering - music, they can do what they wish on stage. It all depends on the music, really - if its energetic, the band will be energetic, if its technical, the band will be 'quieter'.
